Are your loft & lies correct? Over the course of the season, the general use of your clubs can cause the loft and lie's to change. This can occur from playing on hard ground, throwing clubs in your bag or simply banging them when placing them in your car or locker. This will happen to any irons, even more so with forged clubs. If your lofts are out by 1 degree this can result in between 2-4 yard variation in distance and if say 2 clubs were out by 1 degree each, this could open up a large gap of 8 yards more than desired or close a gap making the two clubs perform just the same. If your lie angles are wrong then your direction is near impossible to control. Improper lie angles will create face plane tilt which will produce a tilted axes on the ball when struck, this means that the ball will not fly straight. To make things worse, excessive lie angle tilt will cause either the toe or the heel to strike the ground first resulting in the clubface opening or closing during the impact of the ground.
