Will PING's new irons help your game?

We love hearing all about the latest golf irons that are coming out and will soon be on the shelves and ready to have a go with. We’ve been speaking with PING for a while now, and we’re thrilled to finally be able to spill the beans on their new PING Blueprint irons!

We appreciate that there is a lot of jargon and strange words that crop up when you’re researching golf clubs, so today we want to simplify some of these terms and give you an understanding of how they help the performance of your golf iron.

Simply put: will the PING Blueprint irons help your game?

Expertly forged

When you first set eyes on the Blueprint T iron, you’ll be drinking in the clean, sleek, blade-like looks. This club really looks the part, and it’s largely down to the forging process. This iron has been forged from a single piece of carbon steel, and if it wasn’t for the tungsten screw weight in the head, this would be a purely forged design.

The grooves on the clubface have been precision-milled to enable you to get your ideal degree of launch and spin for when you’re targeting the flag. The iron has been immaculately put together, and when you take a swing of it yourself, you’ll appreciate how pleasantly weighted it is.

Cutting-edge tech

As we’ve mentioned, the Blueprint T iron has a tungsten screw inserted into the clubhead. Alongside a tungsten tip weight, this feature offers a slight MOI boost. The higher the moment of inertia, the better the clubhead is to resisting twisting on impact, giving you more accurate and consistent ball strikes.

PING want to give you the best, and they also want you to find out what’s best for you. They’ve designed the clubs in the Blueprint T to have lofts that match both the Blueprint S and i230 irons, allowing you to create blended sets and form your own ideal range of precision irons.

New and improved looks

We’ll happily keep banging on about it, this iron looks fantastic and is a real joy to hold in your hands. The good looks come largely from PING modifying certain aspects of the club to make it as aerodynamic as possible.

The club has a shorter heel-to-face height and the hosel blends smoothly into the top rail, the result is a truly fantastic looking golf iron that will fill you with confidence when you’re standing over your ball. The club also has a narrow sole that allows for consistent turf interaction time and again.

Now that we’ve taken a look at how the tech in the clubs will help you gain the edge when you’re out on the golf course, we’d like to take a closer look at all the irons available in the range.

We’ve covered the Blueprint T irons above, and they’ll be an excellent addition to any skilled players back. From the looks, to the feel and the hardworking tech in the clubhead, this iron truly exceeded our expectations.

If you’re looking to make consistent, powerful strikes, the Blueprint S will be right up your street. This iron has a split-set construction whereby a pocket is inserted into the cavity to increase MOI and stabilize the center of gravity. The result is an iron that gives you tons of workability and control.

The Blueprint irons look amazing and they’re a lot of fun to play with, but we’d like to leave you by going back over PING’s flagship irons, the G430 and the i230. The G430 will help you generate more balls speeds on your iron strikes, these irons are forgiving and easy to hit. The i230 is a terrific players iron that’s been precisely-weighted to offer you uncompromising accuracy.
